Locandina Servizio Servizio Civile - Reggio Emilia
Italy’s National Community Service was legally established on March 6 2001 by law n° 64 and is purely voluntary based.

Young people aged between 18 and 28 can decide to devote one year of their lives to helping others. It is a gesture of solidarity for the good of each and all of us and a symbol of the value of the quest for peace.
Voluntary Community Service is a valuable way of enriching the education and training of young people today. It is an important and often unique opportunity for personal growth and gives them a chance to learn about active citizenship as they help the weaker members of society and contribute to the social, cultural and economic development of the country.

Those who choose to spend twelve months of their lives as volunteers working in community service add a qualifying experience to their personal CV that will be useful in their professional careers. It may even lead to the prospect of a permanent job. Volunteers are paid a small wage during their year of community service.
